Its hard to believe we have one week left of school! Wow! Summer fun is right around the corner.
One of my favorite parts of summer is visiting farmers markets. One of my favorites is in Oakland, MD, in the area of Deep Creek Lake in Garrett County. Garrett County is very rural, and very beautiful. The Oakland farmers market features all types of produce, plus honey, goat cheese, crafts made from local alpaca wool and fresh eggs. Mmmm makes me hungry just thinking about it!
The signs I made up recently were inspired by the goodies sold in Farmers Markets.
Right now it is strawberry season in Maryland. This “Fresh Strawberries” sign was painted on reclaimed knotty pine and has a light wash of Miss Mustardseed’s Grainsack. I wanted the wood to be reminiscent of the wood containers strawberries were sold in “back in the day”. The lettering and artwork are acrylic, topped off with furniture wax. I added rusty eye bolts for fun.
The next sign is a variation of a sign I painted for Lucketts Spring Market. I decided to have the Typewriter colored milk paint have a chippy finish, instead of distressed finish.
Both of these signs are on consignment at Stifel and Capra in Falls Church, VA.
I am hoping you can visit your local farmers market soon!!
Thanks for stopping by and Happy Summer!
I will be linking this post up with Elizabeth and Co’s link party. Thanks for hosting Sharon!
